On Aug 21st, 2020, fastai released a new version of their Practical Deep Learning for Coders -Part 1 course. This course is a must-take for new and intermediate deep learning practitioners. It is well done and teaches you intuition without drowning you in theory. The only prerequisites are some high-school math, and a year of coding experience (preferably in Python). This course is free and can be done without any installation, by taking advantage of the Colab and/or Gradient platforms, which provide free, GPU-powered Python notebooks. Fastai v2 is out!
Fastai has updated its foundation libraries to be faster and more flexible. fastcore, fastscript, and fastgpu are the newly added foundational libraries used in fast.ai v2, and should be useful to many programmers and data scientists.
Fast.ai also released a new book called ‘Deep Learning for Coders with fastai and PyTorch: AI Applications Without a PhD’ which is available for purchase now and will be the basis of planned Part 2 of the Practical Deep Learning for Coders course. You access the Jupyter notebooks, which are the basis of the book here for free.
